After a bit of delay, here’s some news for you:

Virva logos are complete! They will be debuted on the site soon. We’ve had to severely push back the filming schedules due to moves. Anibal is moving to DC with me, and we are both doing it the same weekend. Plus, we’ve got the the Virva animated logo bumper to film still, and all the post-production editing for Anibal’s movie, Sean Taki’s movie, and my movie. Lots and lots to do.

So even though it seems we’ve slowed down a bit (or in the case of HR Sugar’s movie: taken a step backward), keep in mind that things have been busy bit we’re still trucking!

A long time ago, well before I retired from the gaming world, I used to play a fierce little MMO called Star Wars: Galaxies. From time to time, I found myself on the brilliantly arid and desolate planet of Tatooine. I don’t know how people could stand that backwater bucket. The only redeeming things about the place were the traveling Narlagon minstrels and the lucrative resource spawns. The food was always crap and the brothels had no selection. But I digress.

My profession was that of the crafter, meaning I made awesome things for totally worthless virtual money. I couldn’t make awesome things out of thin air and awesome things require equally awesome ingredients. One particular item called for the shiny tooth of a Krayt Dragon. Now, for reference – a crafter isn’t a warrior or combat class in any way, shape, or form. There are exceptions, or course. I met some pretty frightful chefs who could’ve diced up (or julienned) a few dozen Jedi. But as the general rule, crafters are a bunch of pansy materialists who couldn’t last three seconds in a fight.

Krayt Dragons have “an average length of 45 meters and weight of 2,000 kilograms” (and no, I’m not converting that to Imperial measurement for you). That’s alot of meat for one warrior to handle. Suffice to say, I had to hire a band of mercenaries to do my bidding. I first posted the job offer with a local Corellian guild. Much to my dismay, they returned with four less party members, a sob story, and nil the tooth. And I rinsed and repeated the process for a few more days.

Finally, at the behest of my more bold chefling associates, I threw the towel in and just decided to try it myself. I persuaded five chefs, three weaponsmiths, and two bards to join the caravan. We made our way to that sandy speck in the sky, drove our speeders to Krayt graveyard, and waited. And then waited some more. For being such massive beasts, Krayt Dragons are particularly good at going unseen.

At long last, in the late hours of the Tatooine night, we came upon our prey. And we were lucky beyond all doubt. The Krayt was already weak and on the edge of death. And so with our explosives and blaster fire, we lit up the darkness and deafened the silence. That tooth was undeniably ours.

And then something happened. The ground shook with thunderous might and then quite suddenly stopped. We halted our volley and took a few moments, adjusting to the dim light provided by an imminent dawn. And then we saw sharp horns, and scaley hides, and then piercing teeth. We were surrounded by a pack of Krayt Dragons.

My first film’s working title was a bit pretentious and I felt it only served to distance the audience from the work: Ubiquitous Utopia. Clever though it may be, it’s not very good.

My film has a new name and that name is: “Good Morning Feeling”

It directly acknowledges the main piece of music chosen for the film and helps set the audiences’s mind set as they begin to watch it. The music in this one is really the glue that brings the whole thing together. The concept isn’t really lived without this song. And let me tell you, it’s a hoot and a half!

The film is going to be released right on the wire for deadline though: Saturday night before midnight. This is due to technical complications with visual effects and my panning shot. Oh well, it wouldn’t be fun unless it was challenging as well I suppose.

Look for “Good Morning Feeling” to premiere this Saturday night!

In the spirit of moving forward, I have begun my move to DC. I have temporary housing and already have been gainfully employed.

This will make things for Virva a bit harder. Virginia Beach is a good 3 hour drive from where I’m at. It will make things a little harder, but still doable. I will commute every weekend to help do my part with the other members’ films. On the upside, this will expand our shooting possibilities. We can now shoot in DC, and everyone will have a base of operations / place to crash: my apartment.

I’m very excited for what this means (there are certainly much more picturesque locations up here, see the photos) and what it allows us to do! Look for ‘Ubiquitous Utopia’ to be released soon!

Blue, deprived, tormented, though soulfully musical like the aoelian scale of two step jazz and the prosaic sound of waves in the sea. What color are you? Imagine a world, with a strike of a finger a wave of a hand the sky goes blue to green, sunny to cloudy or snow to grass like a spring morning day.

Locking a house for Sunday became a problem. Locking a studio with pinball machine was cake.Virva was able to upgrage at the last minute due to the resourcefulness of The DP: Mr. Daniel Karp. Sunday’s shoot for Pyrrhic Victory was a fun time held by all who participated. A lot of laughs throughout the day. Everyone who came out was very helpful and we wrapped on time. The highlight of the shoot was Nathan’s antics that will be used for the montage for this short film. I don’t want to give too much away to those you haven’t seen the rough footage, but it will definitely put smiles on people’s faces as everyone on set ( including the director) couldn’t stop laughing which resulted in multiple and even more hilarious takes.

We are now in post. Music selections have been made. It will be amazing.

Thanks to Daniel, The Richwine’s, and Nathan
